Georgia - The country, not the state.
February 28, 2026
I’ve spent the last 4 weeks in the beautiful country of Georgia. I was quite surprised to see many European flags during my stay. While I never really considered Georgia to be an European country as Europe ends for me in Istanbul or somewhere in Russia, I can totally see now why many Georgians feel European. Surely, they have a distinct culture and a unique language, but it overall didn’t feel too foreign. Maybe a bit like a mixture between Eastern Europe and Turkey. That description obviously doesn’t do Georgia justice. I’d highly recommend visiting!
The snow in the Caucasus was amazing. The food is great. People are friendly and no one wants to scam you. It’s safe and affordable.

Overall, great experience. I’ll definitely be back!
